About Our Presentation

TSS for Variables is a method to create fixed-n and sequential acceptance sampling plans and fixed-n and sequential hypothesis tests.

Stan Hilliard will explain the strategy he used to create the TSS methodology – which can be implemented in a fixed-n or sequential way. He will apply it to variables sampling for percentage nonconforming items and to hypothesis testing for the mean of a population. Sequential is the most efficient kind of decision, because the rules allow you to stop collecting data prior to reaching the calculated fixed-n – if you have sufficient evidence to satisfy the risks of type I and II error. For some applications, the smaller sample size of sequential procedures will produce extremely attractive cost savings without reducing accuracy.

About Our Speaker

Stan Hilliard worked in the Statistical Consulting Department of 3M Company from which he retired in 1992. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and has the certifications: CQE, CRE, CQA, and PE. He has served in Minnesota Section ASQ as Education Vice Chair, as an examiner for the Minnesota Quality Award, as instructor of refreshers for the ASQ certifications. He taught the ASQ night school course “Statistics in Quality Control” in 7 different school locations over 20 years. He and his wife Barbara are co-owners of H & H Servicco Corp. which sells software to design sampling plans. http://samplingplans.com
